Burnley draw Plymouth at home in COCUP

News by August 15, 2012 with 3 comments

Burnley’s reward for the 3-1 win at Port Vale in the Capital One Cup is a game against Plymouth Argyle at Turf Moor.

Chris McCann, Charlie Austin and Dean Marney were on target for the Clarets at Vale Park after Chris Shuker’s free-kick gave the hosts the lead.

Argyle have history with Burnley from the play-off tie between the sides in the 90s. It will be a long trip for them to make midweek.

It will be a big game for Alex MacDonald, who spent time on loan at Argyle last season and impressed.

Argyle booked their place in the second round thanks to a 3-0 win over crisis club Portsmouth, who fielded a team of teenagers and went down thanks to goals from Johnny Gorman, Paris Cowan-Hall and Nick Chadwick.

Darren Purse will make his return to Turf Moor after scarring Andy Cole in his last trip to east Lancashire.

Argyle are managed by ex-Bournemouth player Carl Fletcher.

The match will probably be played on August 28th or 29th.
