It’s not often Burnley and Hollywood are mentioned in the same breath – but it turns out new signing Jason Shackell has a secret past on The Hills.

Whilst many are talking up Jason Shackell as Burnley’s new strong-in-the-tackle natural leader and hard-man – hiding in his not-too-distant past is an altogether different side.

The big centre-half randomly popped up to play a starring role in a couple of episodes of MTV’s glitzy, glamarous and overwhelmingly girly ‘reality’ show The Hills – packed with beautiful locations and beautiful people – while playing for Wolves.

During a 2007 trip to Los Angeles he found himself playing a ‘generic Englishman’ and apparent love interest for the show’s star Lauren Conrad at Hollywood nightclub Les Deux – watched by four million American teen girls in the season three premier for MTV’s most successful show ever.

“I’m intimidated,” he mumbles as she drags him over to meet her friends, “I can’t believe I’m leaving tomorrow, I’m actually devastated!”

Former Laguna Beach star and reality TV vetran is clearly smitten with him. “You have an accent,” she proclaims, amazed. “I just found an adorable boy from London … with an accent – jackpot!”

Jason later hits Lauren with his ultimate chat-up line – get ready, it’s pretty awesome…

“You Americans all email.”

When we return to Les Deux he’s nowhere to be seen so one can only assume she prefers a good old fashioned phone call.

“I don’t want to talk about that to be fair,” Shackell later conceded of the whole affair, “It’s just one of those things that came about. It wasn’t all that it was made out to be. ”

If you dare subject yourselves to enough fake-tan and fake personalities to make TOWIE look like an episode of Question Time, Jason makes his entrance about seven-and-half minutes into season three opener ‘You Know What You Did’.
